Phaneuf is not even a top 20 defender in the league. He doesn't deserve top 10 money.
The guy is already making more than he should that is why the flames dumped him. It was a salary dump trade.
Fans will want to run him out of town after the 2nd or 3rd year in. |

Nonis will sign him. if you look at the moves he's made since taking over (trading draft picks, signing Clarkson), he's clearly in "win now" mode. letting Phaneuf walk would be counter-productive to that strategy and make it look like he's just making this up as he goes. |
